Makalidurga

The day began early for us, as my friends and I eagerly embarked on our journey to Makalidurga. We had planned to reach the opening point by 6 AM, but due to some delays, we arrived around 8 AM. Some of us chose to travel in a car, while others preferred the thrill of a bike ride. Thanks to our pre-booked tickets, there was no need to worry about securing our spot. We had taken care of that detail in advance through the Karnataka Eco-Tourism website. Click here to book !

Our trek started from the picturesque Muthurayaswamy Temple. The initial part of the trek involved navigating through a rocky hill, which added to the excitement of the adventure. However, as we progressed, the path became more manageable, with no significant stair steps to tackle. Following the designated path, we made our way steadily upwards. After about an hour and a half of leisurely ascent, filled with lively chatter and occasional breaks to admire the view, we reached the summit. At the hilltop, we were greeted by the serene Shri Makali Malleshwara Swami Temple. It was like finding a peaceful haven in the middle of the rough terrain.

One thing to note is that there are no facilities for food or water at the top, so it's essential to bring your own supplies. Nonetheless, the breathtaking panoramic views made the effort worthwhile. We spent some time soaking in the beauty of our surroundings before beginning our descent. Descending the hill was a quicker endeavor, taking us only around 40 minutes. Overall, Makalidurga proved to be an ideal destination for a day of adventure with friends. Its natural beauty, combined with the thrill of trekking, made for an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a seasoned trekker or just looking for a fun day out in nature, Makalidurga has something to offer for everyone.
