Shivagange

It was on October 3rd 2020, I decided to take a break from the usual routine and headed out on a short, peaceful trip to Shivagange Betta with a few of my office friends. We started our journey from Bangalore early in the morning, around 6:00 AM, on our bikes. The ride was smooth, and within 1.5 hours, we reached Shivagange, a hillock located about 70 kilometers from the city. The morning fog wrapped the hills in a blanket of mist, making the view absolutely stunning. It was the perfect start to our day.

Shivagange is known not just for trekking but also for its spiritual significance, with several temples along the trail. The trek itself is fairly short, about 2.5 kilometers, but it gets steep as you approach the summit. Luckily, railings are installed in the steeper parts to help climbers. As we made our way up, we encountered a lot of monkeys. These monkeys are mischievous and known for snatching bags and food, so if you're planning a trip, be sure to keep your belongings close.

After reaching the top and visiting the temple, we took a moment to enjoy the panoramic views. The sight from the summit is breathtaking, with a clear view of the valley and surrounding landscape. By 10:30 AM, after spending some time at the peak and receiving blessings from the temple, we began our descent. On the way back, we stopped at a small eatery for breakfast, enjoying some local food before continuing our journey home.

We arrived back in Bangalore around 1:00 PM, feeling refreshed and content after the trip. The entire experience was short, peaceful, and perfect for anyone looking for a quick getaway from the city. Whether you're into trekking or seeking a spiritual retreat, Shivagange Betta has something for everyone. Just remember to start your trek early, be mindful of the monkeys, and enjoy the beautiful views along the way!
